Nashville Heart Walk is one month away

Event will finish Walk Nashville Week in big style

American Heart Association - Heart WalkNashville, TN – Mark your calendars! One month from now, on Saturday, October 6th, it’s Heart Walk time.

That’s the day when more than 10,000 walkers will take to the streets for the American Heart Association’s 2012 Nashville Heart Walk at Vanderbilt University.  The annual walk will also be the final official event of Walk Nashville Week.

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s biggest fundraiser of the year and one of the biggest fundraising walks in the state.

Hundreds of company and community teams, and individuals, raise funds to support critical research, education and community health initiatives for adults and children here in Middle Tennessee and beyond. There will be festivities, videos, games, live music and kid-friendly fun starting at 8:00am and continuing until the Walk starts at 10.

New this year is a Breakfast especially for heart and stroke survivors at 8:30am. Survivors – and others – will also have the chance to be part in a video being filmed on site.

The Heart Walk serves as a reminder that physical activity is a proven key to heart and brain health and combating conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. Every one hour of moderate to vigorous physical activity can result in two hours of additional lifespan.

The Heart Walk is part of the My Heart. My Life. movement and is sponsored nationally by SUBWAY® Restaurants and Jenny Craig. In Nashville, My Heart. My Life. is sponsored locally by Vanderbilt Heart. Local media sponsors include WKRN News 2, WRVW 107.5 The River, Nashville Business Journal and Lamar Advertising.
