Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball coach Carrie Daniels has turned to a former Governors basketball star to join her coaching staff, bringing Jerome Jackson on board as an assistant coach effective October 1st.
“I am so pleased to hire Jerome to my staff and our program,” said Daniels. “It is always a pleasure to hire someone who is a part of the Austin Peay family.
“Jerome brings a wealth of knowledge through his many years of playing and coaching. He knows this program; he knows the OVC and has such a passion for teaching the game. He is a great fit and I look forward to him helping move our program forward with the goals we have in place.”Jackson will join the Lady Govs coaching staff after three seasons as head girls basketball coach at Clarksville Academy. The Lady Cougars enjoyed eight all-district selections and two district MVP picks during his tenure.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of the Lady Govs basketball program as an assistant coach,” said Jackson. “I am proud to be able to contribute to the program Carrie has built. I know her goal is to win championships and I want to be a part of a program with those high goals. I want to thank Carrie and the athletics administration for allowing me to return to my alma mater.”
In addition to his duties as head girls basketball coach, Jackson assisted with the highly successful Clarksville Academy boys basketball team for seven seasons. During that time the Cougars won a state championship and four district titles. Jackson began his coaching career in 2001 as an assistant boys basketball coach at Northeast High School.
He joined the Governors basketball team after two successful seasons at Missouri State-West Plains, where he was an NJCAA honorable mention All-America pick as a sophomore.
