Fort Campbell’s 101st Combat Aviation Brigade assumes mission in Afghanistan

Bagram, Afghanistan – The 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade transferred authority to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade during a transfer of authority ceremony at Combined Joint Task Force- 1 headquarters, Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, on September 18th, 2012.

The 101st CAB, from Fort Campbell, KY, is now charged with providing full spectrum aviation support to Regional Command East. They will play a key role in providing combat, logistical and medical evacuation support to coalition forces.

During his remarks, Col. Paul Bontrager, commander, Task Force Destiny, 101st CAB said that TF Destiny should not lose site of the end state here in Afghanistan.

“We are trained, disciplined and fit,” said Bontrager. “We are fully prepared to provide full spectrum aviation support to CJTF-1, with the ultimate goal of providing Afghanistan and its people a chance for a better tomorrow.”

Col. T.J. Jamison, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade commander, also wished the 101st CAB well as they begin the deployment.

“We are honored to hand this fight off to the 101st CAB, an exceptionally skilled unit that is well prepared to assume this fight,” said Jamison. “They stand ready to maintain the consistent aviation presence over the battlefield in Regional Command- East which was the key to our unit’s success throughout the deployment.”
