Volksmarch Wellness Walk at the Sportsman’s Lodge September 29th

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – As the seasons start to change, there is nothing more special than having a Family hike in the lush Tennessee and Kentucky woods. On Saturday, September 29th, bring your Family to Sportsman’s Lodge, just outside Gate 10, to experience the free Volksmarch Wellness Walk.

In Germany, a volksmarch, meaning “people’s march” in German, is a non-competitive fitness walk. At events, participants will walk along a trail and stop at different locations to receive incentive awards.

Fort Campbell MWR will bring the fun and excitement of the Volksmarch to the woods behind Sportsman’s Lodge. From 9:00am to 12:00pm, participants will go to Sportsman’s Lodge and pick up a passport at the registration table. From there, they will choose to walk one of the three different trails (trail lengths are 3K, 5K and 10K).

During their trail hike, participants will visit tents of different MWR programs and facilities, local hospitals, community organizations and outside health-related agencies. Additionally, there will be children’s activities such as arts and crafts available.

Participants are encouraged to get their passports stamped at each tent they visit. The first 400 adults and 400 children, who bring their completed passport to the Sportsman’s Lodge registration table, will receive a free commemorative stein, or mug.

In partnership with the United Services Organization (USO) and the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP), the Fort Campbell MWR Volksmarch Wellness Walk is a free Family fun event. We would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support: Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union, Garland Nissan, University of Phoenix, T-Mobile and USAA.
