Austin Peay Governors Tennis’ Sean Bailey advances to semifinals at Louisville Invitational
APSU Sports: Austin Peay Men’s Tennis
Louisville, KY – Senior Sean Bailey advanced to the semifinals of Flight A in the Gov’s season- opener at this weekend’s Louisville Fall Invitational.
Bailey defeated Kentucky’s Beck Pennington in the opening round (2-6, 6-3, 6-3) and Tennessee Tech’s Syrym Abdukhalikov (7-6 (4), 3-6, 7-5) to advance to Saturday’s quarterfinal.

Bailey and sophomore Aleksas Tverijonas defeated West Alabama’s Adam Drysdale and Anton Ivanov 8-3 to advance in the top doubles flight. Bailey and Tverijonas fell to Simich and Alex Gornet, 8-4; Simich and Gornet would advance to the finals of the Flight A doubles.
Tverijonas defeated West Alabama’s Luis Ruiz 6-2, 6-0 before losing to Louisville’s Gornet 6-3, 6-1 in Flight A singles. Sophomore Dimitar Ristovski also advanced to the second round in the top flight, defeating Campbellsville’s Sebastian Marot 6-1, 6-4. He fell to Tennessee Tech’s Alejandro Augusto 6-2, 6-3.
The Govs host the APSU Fall Tournament, next weekend.
