“Bowl-a-Thon” for Empty Bowls to be hosted by Hands on Clarksville, Professor Ken Shipley and APSU Ceramics Department October 6th, 2012

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville invites the community to the second annual Empty Bowls “bowl-a-thon” hosted by Ken Shipley, Associate Professor Peay State University on Saturday, October 6th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Trahern building located on campus.

The purpose of the “Bowl-a-Thon” is to produce a bowls for the “Empty Bowls” project. “Empty Bowls” is an annual joint fundraiser to raise money for Loaves and Fishes and Urban Ministries Grace Assistance Food Pantry and to raise awareness about hunger issues in our community.

The “Bowl-a-Thon” is just another way for the community to get involved with Empty Bowls and it is an enjoyable way to show support and help fight hunger locally.

With a ball of clay, some creativity and a bit of sweat, volunteers can help make bowls that will later be painted and used at the Empty Bowls Lunch/Dinner slated for February 26th, 2013.

Making bowls is a new experience for many volunteers; and for those who have never “thrown” a bowl ceramic students and Professor Shipley will be teach handmade methods on site. Please join us for a fun evening, for a great cause.
