Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include:

Indoor Aquatic Center to open for the season

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceThe Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence will open its doors Monday, October 1st. Opening day will feature activities, prizes and free admission for all patrons. Purchase your indoor or year-round pool passes October 1st-7th and receive 10% off!

Group Passes Available

The Indoor Aquatic Center has a popular option for those wanting to purchase pool passes at the Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence. Not only can individual or family passes (individuals living in the same household) be purchased, but group passes are now available.

Group passes are ideal for friends, co-workers, or any other groups of two or more. Group rates are as follows: 2 people- $320.00, 3 people- $340.00, 4 people- $360.00, 5 people- $380.00, 6 people- $400.00.

Bark in the Park

2012 Bark in the ParkBring your 4-legged family members for a day of contest, demonstrations, prizes and more at Bark in the Park, October 6th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the new Bark Park located at Liberty Park.

Businesses that promote dog-related programs, services and products are encouraged to apply by visiting the Parks and Recreation Office at 102 Public Square or going online to www.cityofclarksville.com to download a form. Applications must be received by October 3rd.

Youth Basketball League Registration & Coaches training

BasketballClarksville Parks & Recreation is proud to offer a Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 7 to 17. The cost is $60.00 per player.  Each player will receive a jersey, water bottle and medal.

Registration is available online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com.  Registration is also available at our three community centers, as well as at the Parks & Recreation Main Office.  Registrants must bring their birth certificate for age verification if they are registering for this program for the first time.

Practices will be held at local school gymnasiums beginning November 5th and games will be held at the City’s three community centers beginning December 8th.

Are you interested in a leadership role on the court? Parks & Recreation is seeking coaches for this year’s Youth Basketball league. A training session for coaches will be held October 11th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Freedom Point at Liberty Park. All interested coaches may contact Athletic Coordinator, Albert Casillas at 931.645.7476 for more information.

Fright on Franklin

A young girl receives candy at Fright on FranklinThe 4th Annual Fright on Franklin, presented by City of Clarksville and Planter’s Bank, will once again offer safe trick-or-treating.  Local businesses will line the streets in Downtown Clarksville on Saturday, October 27th to hand out candy and other treats. Fright on Franklin activities will begin at 3:00pm with the Costume Contest kicking off at 4:00pm.

Contest participants must register by 4:30pm, October 25th at the Parks and Recreation office or online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com. The contest is free to enter and open to ages 0 to 12. Prizes will be awarded. Register early, only the first 50 registrants will be accepted for each age group.
