Clarksville, TN – Senior Dustin Korte, of Austin Peay State University men’s golf team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Korte shared Ohio Valley Conference co-Golfer of the Week honors with SIU Edwardsville’s Dalton Charboneau this week after shooting a three-under 213 at the Cardinal Intercollegiate last week, finishing four shots off the lead. He shot a two-under par 70 in the first round and shaved a stroke off that score in the second.

Korte was in contention for medalist honors but broke his putter on the back nine and was forced to putt with his wedge, losing three strokes on the final seven holes due to bad luck.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Senior Sean Bailey, of the men’s tennis team, won Flight A at the Austin Peay Fall Invitational over the weekend. The top-seeded Bailey defeated foes from Western Kentucky and SIU Edwardsville to take top honors. He also teamed with Aleksas Tverijonas to win the Flight A doubles round-robin competition.
  • Senior outside hitter Nikki Doyle, of the volleyball team, led the Lady Govs in kills at Murray State (17 in a victory) and Eastern Kentucky (14 in a loss), adding eight digs in each match for good measure. She’s now sixth in the OVC in kills with 200 in 2012.
  • Junior running back/wide receiver Terrence Oliver, of the football team, had a career-high nine catches for 100 yards in the Govs loss at Eastern Illinois. He became the first Gov other than Devin Stark to break the 100-receiving yard barrier since Adrian Mines had 119 receiving yards at Murray State in 2009.
  • Junior goalkeeper Haylee Shoaff, of the women’s soccer team, recorded her season’s first shutout, Sunday, at Southeast Missouri. It was the first Lady Govs road shutout since October 2010 at Murray State.
