APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Cross Country
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team gets its first look at the conference championship course this weekend at the JSU Foothills Invitational, which gets underway at 5:15pm, Friday.

This will be Austin Peay’s first time on Jacksonville State’s home course, which will be crucial in the coming weeks. On October 27th, the Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships will be held at the Oxford Lake and Recreation Center, and Austin Peay will need to familiarize itself with the course lay out.
Austin Peay hopes to get a leg up on the rest of the OVC competition; the Govs and Lady Govs will be the only other OVC schools aside from host Jacksonville State in attendance at this weekend’s meet.
It’s been an inconsistent season for the Lady Govs, who’ve shown promise (three top-10 finishes at Chattanooga) and have high expectations for the rest of the season. Head coach Doug Molnar believes his team stacks up with any in the conference.
“They can race with anyone,” Molnar said. “I think the next few weeks will have them in a good spot once we get to the conference championship. This meet is the first step.”
