Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce events for October, 2012

Clarksville Area Chamber of CommerceClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce announces upcoming events during the month of October.

On October 9th-11th, the Chamber will be hosting a Membership Event to help spread the word of the value and importance of being a part of the local Chamber. Over the two and a half day drive, over 100 volunteers will race against the clock and each other to sign up new Chamber members all while creating awareness for the organization. If interested in becoming a member of the Chamber please contact Denny Fry at 931.245.4342.

The Chamber’s Business after Hours will be held on Thursday, October 18th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Appleton Harley-Davidson, 2501 Hwy 41-A Bypass, will host the event. Business After Hours is offered to Chamber members at no cost.

Beginning on October 24th at West Creek High School, the Clarksville Montgomery County School System will be hosting the ninth grade Reality Check. As part of the 100% Graduation Initiative, CMCSS wants students to realize how important it is to stay in school. This type of activity increases student awareness of the connection between education, income and careers. The Reality Check program needs people like you to volunteer! For more information about this year’s schedule and to volunteer to work a station please contact Candy Johnson at  931.920.7955 or Elise Shelton at 931.920.7921. To volunteer online, log onto handsonclarksville.org.

On Tuesday, October 25th from 11:30am to 1:00pm there will be a Power Lunch at the Riverview Inn, 50 College Street. Please join us as we welcome Amanda Johns, who will give valuable insight to tackling communication barriers between different generations in the workplace.

Through careful research and meticulous study, Amanda has identified and categorized gender similarities in verbal and non-verbal communication, the underlying meaning behind our words, the nuances of dress and appearance, and the overall structure of how people act, react, buy and sell just a little bit differently. Her often humorous recap brings piercing clarity and empowering insights into understanding and relating to the subtle differences between how genders and generations think and act in the business world.

To RSVP or for more information about Chamber events, please contact Mark Hays at 931.245.4339 or markh@clarksville.tn.us.
