Tennessee State Senate Candidate Mark Green shows 2 to 1 cash lead going in to final stretch

Election 2012Clarksville, TN – State Senate Candidate Mark Green today announced that he raised $172,785 in the 3rd quarter reporting period, expanding the vast financial lead he holds in his bid to unseat incumbent Tim Barnes.

The campaign also reported a sizable war chest going into the final days of the campaign, reporting $313,380.08 cash-on-hand as of October 1st. The campaign’s cash on hand, a key metric showing how much money the campaign has to spend before election day, is more than double Barnes’ $140,371.86.

“I am truly humbled by the support I have received and continue to receive,” Green said. “I think these fundraising numbers reflect the significant, wide-ranging support I have across the district.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the people on their doorsteps and what really matters to their families, and I think these numbers are just another indication of how hard we’re working.” Green’s cumulative fundraising also far surpasses that of his opponent, having raised a total of $407,375 thus far in the campaign compared to Barnes’ $192,045.

“Our campaign has been diligent in its quest to work for the people of the 22nd District,” said Bonnie Brezina, Deputy Campaign Manager. “We have outraised our opponent over two to one. The massive support this community has shown is overwhelming – they want Mark Green as their State Senator,” Brezina said.

“I want to go to Nashville to serve the community that has been so great to my family,” said Green. “As a small business owner, I understand what it takes to bring jobs and stop wasteful government spending and that is exactly what I feel like our community needs in their next State Senator.”

No stranger to service, Dr. Green was assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment as a special operations flight surgeon after completing his residency in emergency medicine in 2002 and served both Iraq and Afghanistan. A West Point graduate in Economics, he left the military after 16 years of service and decided to stay in Clarksville.

Today, Dr. Green is the President and owner of AlignMD, an emergency department, hospitalist and urgent care management and staffing company based in Clarksville, which operates in five states and has brought $4 million in jobs to the community. Dr. Green and his wife of 23 years, Camie, reside in Clarksville where they are raising their two children, Mitchell and Alexa.
