TWRA serving as a partnet in ATV Safety Public Service Announcement Competition

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and its other partners in the ATV Safety Coalition have begun a Public Service Announcement competition to promote ATV safety in the state.

The launching of the statewide public education campaign is to bring awareness and stress the importance of safety when riding an ATV. Tennessee ranked sixth nationally with 101 ATV reported fatalities from 2007-10.

The coalition’s ATV Safety PSA Contest is for students junior high (grades 6-8) and in high school (grades 9-12). Participants are asked to create a 60-second PSA video informing children and teens about the consequences of unsafe riding and the encouragement to follow ATV safety rules and regulations.

Competition for the contest opened on October 8th and the submission deadline is November 19th. Winners will be announced on January 21st, 2013. There will be first, second and third place winners in the junior high and high school divisions with prizes of $250.00, $150.00, and $100.00 for the top three entries in each division.

The TWRA is one of the coalition’s steering committee organizations along with the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Castle Powersports, Future Farmers of America, Tennessee Department of Health, Tennessee Emergency Medical Services for Children, UT Extension, and 4-H.
