Clarksville, TN – Senior Nikki Doyle, of Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Doyle set an Austin Peay record with a 34-kill performance in a five-set victory against Middle Tennessee, Wednesday. It was only the third 30-kill performance in Austin Peay history and surpassed Sarah Schramka’s 31-kill match against Eastern Kentucky in 2002.
Doyle followed that up with 11 kills against Eastern Illinois and a 21-kill performance against SIU Edwardsville, both Lady Govs victories.The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Junior Xiamar Richards, of the women’s cross country team, finished fifth in the women’s two-mile run at the Front Runner Invitational hosted by Chattanooga, Saturday, with a personal-best 11:38.31 mark.
- Freshman Corey Teague, of the football team, had a sack and an interception in the Govs 45-14 loss to Eastern Kentucky, Saturday.
- Junior Anthony Bradley, of the men’s golf team, tied for first at the Bearcat Invitational with a three-under par 213 (70-71-72) at the Traditions Golf Club course. He also shared OVC co-Golfer of the Week honors with UT Martin’s Tyler Shellnut.
- Junior Andy Quiceno, of the soccer team, recorded her first career hat-trick in the Lady Govs 6-1 win against Eastern Illinois, Friday. It’s the third three-goal game in the conference this season and the first in a game between two conference opponents since 2010. It’s also the seventh hat trick in Lady Govs history.
