Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include:

  • Calling all adults ages 50 and up!
  • Winter Gym Program
  • School’s out, Come to the Dome

Calling all adults ages 50 and up!

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceLooking for a way to improve your agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance? Try the Indoor Aquatic Center’s Silver Splash class. No swimming ability is required. Classes meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00am to 10:45am. The cost per class is $2.00 for pool pass holders, or $4.00 without.

Silver Fitness- Two of our centers have reserved days and times where adults, ages 50 and up, can make full use of the gym and workout room, while it is closed to the general public. Cost is free, but a center ID card ($5.00/year) is required.

Kleeman Community Center- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 10:00am to 11:00am and Saturday 9:00am to 10:00am.

Crow Community Center- Monday and Wednesday from 9:00am to 10:00am.

Winter Gym Program

BasketballEvery year, the Parks & Recreation Department and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System partner to provide a free winter gymnasium program for recreational basketball free play. The program is offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at Byrns-Darden Elementary School Gymnasium from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, beginning November 5th, 2012 through March 25th, 2013.

Children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

School’s out, Come to the Dome

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceAll ages are welcome to spend the day at the Indoor Aquatic Center November 6th, 12th and 21st from 7:00am to 8:00pm to enjoy swimming, playing on the floating obstacle course known as the Aqua Run, and climbing the new Aqua Climb! Daily admission is only $3.00 Monday/Wednesday/Friday and only $1.00 on Tuesday. Wristbands to access the Aqua Run and Climb are only $2.00 or free for pool pass holders.

Handmade Holidays

HolidaysMark your calendars for the first-ever Handmade Holidays event at the newly opened Wilma Rudolph Event Center, located at Liberty Park. The event is scheduled to take place November 17th from 10:00am to 6:00pm and November 18th from noon to 5:00pm.

Over thirty vendors will be on hand showcasing handmade and handcrafted items. The event is free and open to the public.

Volleyball

VolleyballBurt-Cobb and the Kleeman community center invites patrons, ages 18 and up, to play organized pick-up volleyball games during the following days and times:

Burt-Cobb Center: Wednesday from 6:30pm to 8:45pm.

Kleeman Center: Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

There is no cost to participate, but a center ID card ($5.00/year) is required.

Basic Water Aerobics

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceThis 45-minute class, offered to adults ages 18 and up, is aimed at improving tone, strength and mobility. Classes are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00pm to 6:45pm.

The cost per class is $2.00 for pool pass holders or $4.00 without.

Calling all Dancers!
