Clarksville, TN – Senior Emily Perkins, of Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Perkins scored both game-winning goals in Austin Peay’s victories at Morehead State and against Eastern Kentucky last week, helping the Lady Govs clinch a first-round bye in this week’s Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, hosted by UT Martin.

The Nashville, Tennessee, native scored in the 20th minute, Friday, on a pass from junior Andy Quiceno in a 1-0 victory at Morehead State. Perkins assisted on Tatiana Ariza’s 13th-minute goal and then scored the eventual game-winner in the 24th minute in a 2-1 win, Sunday, versus Eastern Kentucky.
For her efforts, Perkins was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Soccer Player of the Week and was awarded Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the OVC.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Junior Xiamar Richards, of the women’s cross country team, made it back-to-back All-OVC honors with a 10th-place, 17:49.01 5K run at the OVC Championships in Oxford, AL. She’s the first Lady Gov to earn consecutive all-conference honors since Bertha Castillo (2007-09).
- Senior quarterback Jake Ryan, of the football team, threw for a season-high 304 yards and three touchdowns in the Govs 41-27 homecoming loss to Southeast Missouri, Saturday.
- Senior outside hitter Nikki Doyle, of the volleyball team, had her fourth consecutive 20-kill game, against Belmont, and concluded the week with a 14-kill match at Tennessee State.
