Austin Peay Governors Baseball adds Arlington’s Chase Hamilton to 2014 list

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team continues to fill out its early signing period roster, adding Chase Hamilton, of Arlington, TN, to its 2013 signee class.

Hamilton, a 6-3, 185-pound left-handed outfielder, batted .339 with three home runs and 24 RBI in his junior campaign at Arlington High School, which won the 2012 Class AAA State Championship. He batted .438 with seven runs scored, three RBI and two doubles from the leadoff position in four state tournament games, including a 3-for-3, three RBI outing in Round 3 against Riverdale. Hamilton also pitched a complete game for a Round 2 win against Farragut.

“Chase is an athletic outfielder and a great addition to our recruiting class,” said Austin Peay head coach Gary McClure. “On the field Chase is an electric player who can have a major impact on a game at any time both offensively and defensively. He is a great fit for our style of play and he projects to be a guy who can play right away and make a big difference.”

The Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association named Hamilton to its 2-Way Team after he posted a 7-2 record and 1.26 ERA on the mound. Hamilton was an All-Region 7 selection and was named to the Tennessee Baseball Report’s Sun Belt Tournament junior squad.  Hamilton also is a three-time all-district selection. Perfectgame.org ranked Hamilton as the No. 12 player in Tennessee and third among the state’s outfielders.

As a sophomore, Hamilton batted .319 with seven home runs and 18 RBI and was among Tennessee’s top 10 in walks (31). He was named to TBCA’s Super Sophomore Team. He also has played for Team Tennessee in the Sunbelt Tournament as both a sophomore and junior. In addition, Hamilton plays for the Dulins Dodgers during the summer along with signee Garrett Copeland.
