Clarksville Police wants to warn the public of Shopping Cart and Unattended Bag Thefts

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department wants to get the word out to the public about a rash of thefts from shopping carts or unattended bags.

In the last month, thieves have been targeting unattended purses in shopping carts or leather bags. There have been approximately twelve reported thefts of purses or bags taken when they were left unattended for a short period of time (within minutes).

The majority of the thefts have occurred between 10:00am and noon.

In some cases, the thief has used the victim’s credit or debit card to make other purchases.

With the holiday season upon us, heavy shopping, and large crowds, the potential for thefts increase and shoppers should be extremely vigilant.

Also, be prepared to promptly notify the appropriate agencies to report/cancel your personal documents, debit/credit cards or checks.
