APSU Governors Basketball’s Chris Horton earns OVC Freshman honor for third straight week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University center Chris Horton, who scored 24 points in two games while shooting 71 percent from the floor, has been named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for a third straight time.

The 6-8 Decatur, GA, native, scored 15 points against Berea last Wednesday, going 6-of-9 from the floor.

Clarksville Police are looking for Serial Shoplifter Shanta Griffin

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police are looking for Shanta Margarita Griffin who has Four Theft warrants on file and is a suspect in several other shoplifting cases.

On Three of the thefts, Griffin approached the store clerk to purchase two cartons of cigarettes. Once the clerk retrieved two cartons, Griffin would ask for an additional carton of cigarettes and then flee as the clerk turned away.

2nd Brigade Combat Team’s (Strike) Advisory Teams and soldiers from 716th MP Welcome Home Ceremony delayed

 

2nd Brigade Combat Team - StrikeFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Due to weather conditions at their current location, the 2nd Brigade Combat Team “Strike” flight has been delayed. The new time for the Strike Welcome Home Ceremony is now scheduled for Wednesday morning, December 5th, 2012 at 2:00am.

The soldiers returning home include members of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team and members of the 716th Military Police.The soldiers are returning home from a 9 month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where the Strike Teams were in charge in transitioning military power over to the Afghan National Security Forces.

Clarksville Academy receives Bomb Threat Monday afternoon

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On December 3rd, 2012, around 12:20pm, a call was received by the Clarksville Academy advising there was a bomb in the school. The Academy staff made the decision to evacuate the students and cancel classes for the rest of the day.

The building was searched, no devices were located, and the scene was cleared by 2:10pm.

The case is under investigation.

Youth Employment Opportunity Deadline Approaching

 

Clarksville, TN – The LEAP Organization, Daymar Institute, Kohls, Manna Cafe, Montgomery County Youth Services, and Youth Employment Services have partnered to operate a Youth Career Development Program. The program is open to youth ages 15 to 18, and begins on January 5th, 2013 with the deadline to apply being December 7th, 2012.

The goal of the program is to prepare youth to be able to successfully obtain employment by providing interview technique coaching, resume writing instructions, provide relevant work experience, and job placement assistance with employers. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville Police arrest Two Men for Robbing a Friend

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On December 3rd, 2012, around 1:20am, Clarksville Police were called to a Mark Spitz address about a robbery which occurred in the parking lot of a business at the 1600 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard around 1:00am.

An 18 year man told officers he was driven by his friend Marques Townsend to the business’ parking lot, where subsequently, a male wearing a bandanna and black jacket held a gun to the 18 year olds head and demanded his money and cell phone.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Willow Heights and Davis Drive Intersection Closed
