Clarksville Police arrest Two Men for Robbing a Friend
An 18 year man told officers he was driven by his friend Marques Townsend to the business’ parking lot, where subsequently, a male wearing a bandanna and black jacket held a gun to the 18 year olds head and demanded his money and cell phone. The robber then turned his attention to Townsend and demanded his cell phone. After receiving over $600.00 in cash from the 18 year old and the two cell phones, the suspect left in a dark colored SUV with plastic over a window. While Police were gathering information from the 18 year old and Townsend, their versions were similar on the sequence of events. But, Townsend told officers, the vehicle was a truck and that his phone’s location services was disabled. Around 1:43am, Officer Justin Steward and William Gilboy spotted a vehicle in the parking lot of a North Second Street business meeting the description of the vehicle involved in the robbery; it had plastic on one of the windows. When officers contacted the occupants, Willie Cole and another person not involved in the robbery, were enjoying their food. Officers found guns in the vehicle, gloves, bandanna, cell phones and cash. Detective Brian Tenry took over the investigation and the details of the robbery were unveiled. The robbery had been a set up. Townsend had been friends with the victim for about a month. The 18 year old just had a birthday the day before and had over $600.00 in his possession. Townsend and his cousin, Willie Cole, coordinated a plan to have the victim in the Fort Campbell business parking lot where the robbery would take place. The robbery went off without a hitch. But, the vehicle used in the robbery was very distinct and patrol located it quickly. Both Townsend and Cole admitted to the robbery. The 18 year old victim’s cash and cell phone were returned to him. Marques TownsendRace: B Willie Cole IIRace: B Cole was already on probation until 2018 for: Theft, Evading, and Vehicle Burglary.
