Montgomery County Democratic Party honors local volunteers, statesmen

Montgomery County Democratic PartyClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Democratic Party gathered at the Smith Trahern mansion on December 11 to celebrate Christmas and to honor local volunteers and Montgomery County’s statesmen for their service.

State Senator Tim Barnes received a plaque noting his service to the party and to his Montgomery County constituency over the past four years. The party also recognized State Representatives Joe Pitts and John Tidwell who will both continue the elected offices.

Christine Piesyk was awarded the 2011-12 Alice Byard award for “A lifetime of service” on behalf of the Democratic Party. Piesyk became a volunteer with the Democratic Party in New England in 1971 and continued that service from 2004 to the present in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Rev. Charles Moreland was presented with the Nathaniel Carter Award as volunteer of the year for his service to the MCDP  during the past election season. Moreland has been active with the MCDP for more than 10 years.

Jim and Nan Robertson of Dover and Brett and Jessica Ramsey were honored for their ongoing party support over a period of years.  Pete Olson was also honored for his support.
