In addition, a new permanent interactive history exhibit will be produced for the gallery entitled Becoming Clarksville:  Honoring Legacies of Leadership.

Through the prism of leadership, the exhibit will explore the history of Clarksville and Montgomery County, focusing on the stories of individuals who helped shape the city. Becoming Clarksville will also serve as a legacy for the Clarksville Jaycees, remembering its history, and its contributions to the people of Clarksville. Becoming Clarksville is scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.

The Clarksville Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation is funding this exhibit with a $500,000 gift to the Customs House Museum. This lead gift will kick off the museum’s long range fundraising plans to renovate the museum’s permanent gallery spaces.

Terry Healy of HealyKohler Design will serve as principal designer and project manager.  The Customs House Museum retained BLF Marketing for content development and Goodwin Productions for video production.

The Clarksville Jaycees, Inc. was a service organization whose mission was to provide ‘leadership training through community service.’ The Clarksville Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation (a 501c(3) organization) was created in 2001 to manage the Clarksville Jaycees’ assets.

A decline in membership over the last decade resulted in the Clarksville Jaycees dissolution in 2011.
