Christmas with 101st Airborne Division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans”

Khowst Province, Afghanistan – During this holiday season, Soldiers with the 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), will be spending the holidays deployed while in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The currently deployed Rakkasans are unable to spend the holidays with their families, but with the reality of deployment at hand they still have the support from both the American people and the military.

General Contractors received their Green Certification during a Green Ribbon Cutting Ceremony attended by the Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers at their offices on December 18th just a week before Christmas.

The ceremony celebrated their successful implementation of green initiatives and completion of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program.

Tennessee Titans make Roster Moves on Practice Squad

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans added running back Alvester Alexander to the practice squad and placed linebacker Mike Mohamed on the practice squad/injured list.

Alexander (5-11, 204) signed with the Chicago Bears this year as an undrafted free agent from the University of Wyoming. He also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts on their practice squad this year. In his college career at Wyoming, Alexander rushed for 2,127 yards and 27 yards in 38 games.

Anthony Campbell named Austin Peay Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Senior forward Anthony Campbell, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Campbell averaged 19.7 points over the Govs last three games, including a career-high 25-point performance against Lipscomb, December 18th. He followed that with a 20-point night in a losing effort against Illinois State, hitting a season-high five three-pointers against the Redbirds. He was the only Gov in double figures at Illinois State.

Christmas Spirit Comes to 101st Airborne Division Rakkasans while Deployed in Afghanistan

Khowst Province, Afghanistan – It is Christmas Eve on Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan.

Decorations, colorful lights, Christmas trees, and tables full of home style food fill the room. Live music is playing and someone dressed as Santa Clause is handing out presents.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Washington Street and Martin Street Intersection Closure

Repairs are planned to be complete within 3-4 hours.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hosts the brand new Cumberland Arts Experience at the Kleeman Center

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is offering a new program, the Cumberland Arts Experience, at the Kleeman Community Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane.

The old joke about economists having predicted nine out of the last three recessions rings hollow, but true especially if you are one of the unemployed, or underemployed, trying to avoid a fiscal cliff of your own.

So let’s turn the page and change the subject. It is time for different ideas. Somebody, somewhere in Congress needs to offer something different. While members of Congress discuss tax cuts another idea is being overlooked.
