Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan –A soldier profile on Sgt. Lydia Johnston, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment medic serving at Jalalabad Airfield, Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Sgt. Lydia Johnston, a medic with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, knows what it is to give care under fire. The difference is that she was doing it before she even came into the Army.

Johnston, a native of Greenville, CA, was an emergency medical technician prior to her joining the Army. Getting EMT training was part of getting a degree.

The American Heart Association reaches out to the Hispanic community locally and nationally

Nashville, TN – Heart disease is the No. 1 killer for all American men and women, and stroke is the fourth leading cause of death.

Hispanics and Latinos, however, face even higher risks because of high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes – and cultural challenges. That can be a surprise to many Hispanics, both nationally and here in Middle Tennessee.

Birmingham, AL – Several personal-bests led the way for Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team at the UAB Blazer Invitational, Friday, at the Crossplex Arena.

“This was a big meet, featuring lots of top competition,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “We’re definitely still improving, but I’m very pleased with how well this meet went for us.”

NASA’s Cassini Spacecraft data suggests there maybe Ice on the Lakes of Saturn’s moon Titan

Pasadena, CA – It’s not exactly icing on a cake, but it could be icing on a lake. A new paper by scientists on NASA’s Cassini mission finds that blocks of hydrocarbon ice might decorate the surface of existing lakes and seas of liquid hydrocarbon on Saturn’s moon Titan.

The presence of ice floes might explain some of the mixed readings Cassini has seen in the reflectivity of the surfaces of lakes on Titan.
