Montgomery County, TN – At Tuesday night’s Clarksville Montgomery County School Board work session, Elementary Schools Director Dr. Ann Griffin reviewed a state law (House Bill 2566) passed last year that impacts the age of children starting kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year. Previously, children could enroll in kindergarten if they turned five years old by September 30th.
The new law now requires that children be five by August 31st for the 2013-14 school year, and five by August 15th for the 2014-15 school year.
All students currently enrolled in a CMCSS Pre-K program will be allowed to enter kindergarten next school year regardless of when they turn five.
That is not the case for the 2014-15 school year. The law does not address enrollment age for pre-kindergarten.
