Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrest three in connection to Teen’s Death in Stewart County

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today arrested three individuals after the Stewart County grand jury indicted them on various charges for the death of a Stewart County teen who died from a prescription drug overdose in October 2012.

On October 14th, 2012, 17-year-old Kristin Irizarry, of Clarksville, TN, was found dead at 305 Conger Street in Cumberland City. An autopsy revealed Kristen died from acute combined multiple drug intoxication including ethanol and oxymorphone, also known as Opana.  She had no previous prescription drug history.

Nicole Irizarry, Darius Skelton and Dayzon Skelton were arrested on various charges for the death of Kristin Irizarry.

Through the course of the investigation, agents learned that the night before Kristen’s death, her mother, 41-year-old Nicole Irizarry, of Dover, gave her oxymorphone to sell.

That night Kristen, along with 20-year-old Darius Skelton, 19-year-old Dayzon Skelton, both of Cumberland City and another juvenile went to a party were alcohol was being served and attempted to sell Nicole Irizarry’s pills.

They returned to Dayzon Skelton’s home and the next morning she was found dead and 911 was called.

Nicole Irizarry was indicted on one count of second degree murder, one count of aggravated child neglect, one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, one count of contributing to the delinquency of a child and one count of conspiracy to sell a scheduled drug.

Dayzon and Darius Skelton were each indicted on one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child, one count of conspiracy to sell a scheduled drug and one count of criminally negligent homicide.

Nicole Irizarry is currently in the Henry County jail on $50,000 bond. The Skelton’s were booked into the Stewart County jail on $25,000 bond each.

The 23rd Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI to investigate Kristin Irizarry’s death along with the Cumberland City Police Department.
