This is the spring opener for both Samford and the Lady Govs. These matches kick off Ross Brown‘s first spring as head coach for Austin Peay tennis. The Australian has to find a replacement for Vanja Tomic, who was first-team all-conference last season as a senior and Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year as a sophomore.

“I feel like we’re very solid,” Brown said. “We have some good players, some who weren’t able to compete to their potential last season. If they play as well as they’re capable, we’ll have a good season.”

Returning to the court is sophomore Alison Carre, who earned all-conference honors as a freshman. She will get first crack at the No. 1 slot for this season, with sophomores Andra Cornea and Ornella Di Salvo flanking her.

Last season, the Lady Govs battled the Bulldogs in a 6-1 loss, February 3rd. Tomic registered the only victory for Austin Peay.

After a 15-6 season that included an 11-3 record at home, Samford returns all-conference doubles player Kristin Lewis and all-freshman team member Stephanie N’tcha.
