Habitat for Humanity in 2012 served a record 94,618 families

On average, every five-and-a-half minutes a family is helped through Habitat’s construction programs

Clarksville, TN – Habitat for Humanity served a record 94,618 families through new home construction, rehabilitation and repairs in fiscal year 2012 (July 1st, 2011, to June 30th, 2012), breaking the previous fiscal year’s record by more than 13,000 families served.

Nashville Predators visit Phoenix Coyotes

Nashville, TN – The road woes continue for the Nashville Predators, as their extended road trip lands in Phoenix, Monday night.

The Predators and Coyotes meet for the first time since their five-game Western Conference Semifinal series in the 2012 Playoffs, a series Phoenix won behind timely scoring and outstanding goaltending from Mike Smith. The clubs split their 2011-12 regular season series, with Nashville claiming its two victories on Jobing.com Arena ice.

On March 12th, 2012, Nashville pulled out a 5-4 shootout win, and on November 3rd, 2011, Pekka Rinne – celebrating his 29th birthday – signed a seven-year contract in the afternoon, then capped off the day by shutting out the Coyotes, 3-0. Third Annual Daniel Greer Memorial Youth Waterfowl Hunt set for Cheatham County February 9th

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is among the partners to host the Second Annual Daniel Greer Memorial Youth Waterfowl Hunt.

The event will be held February 9th at Cheatham Lake Wildlife Management Area.

Black History Bowl at APSU rescheduled for February 1st

Clarksville, TN – The Eighth Annual Black History Bowl at Austin Peay State University has been rescheduled for 5:00pm, February 1st, in the Music/Mass Communication Building’s Mabry Concert Hall. The event, a scholastic competition open to teams from local schools, was originally scheduled for January 25th, but inclement weather and local school closings made it necessary to reschedule.

“The purpose of the bowl is to build a sense of collegiality among students,” Dr. Barbara Peterson, associate professor of education, said. “It gives them an opportunity to have a high command of knowledge and to apply that knowledge.”

Texas Hold’em at Sportsman’s Lodge every Thursday

Fort Campbell, KY – Come in from the cold and warm up with some Texas Hold’em!

Beginning January, games will be held every Thursday evening at Sportsman’s Lodge. Play starts at 6:30pm and again at 9:00pm with nightly prizes for the winners of each game.
