The Honor Band

Clarksville, TN – The past two weekends have been a pretty exciting time in our household. My oldest son Walt, an eighth grade student at Rossview Middle School, earned the privilege of playing in two different Mid-State Honor Bands.

He was selected to play in the Jr. High Gold Band, as well as the Jr. High Gold Jazz Band.  To make one of those bands is certainly an accomplishment, but to make it into both of them is, in my opinion, amazing! «Read the rest of this article»

Fort Campbell episode of History Channel’s “Top Gear” airs February 5th

Fort Campbell, KY – Top Gear, an American motoring television series on the History Channel, is scheduled to air their second episode of its third season, February 5th, which was filmed inside the gates of Fort Campbell, KY during this past fall.

The week long production combined Hollywood magic with the military might of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), as the Screaming Eagle Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team and 159th Combat Aviation Brigade became part of the show’s cast.

Maj. Gen. James C. McConville, commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, Ky., shares a laugh with Tanner Foust, stunt driver and the host of Top Gear, during a break in shooting while filming an episode for the History Channel show at a Fort Campbell training area, Sept. 26. Richview Middle School Boys and Girls basketball teams win Championships

Clarksville, TN – Thursday night at New Providence Middle School there were two District Basketball Champions crowned.

In the girls championship game – Richview Middle School played a grueling basketball game against Rossview Middle School winning by one point in overtime. The Cowboys battled back and forth with the Hawks in a close game with a final score of 51-50.

NASA’s Cassini spacecraft observes Storm on Saturn devour itself

Pasadena, CA – Call it a Saturnian version of the Ouroboros, the mythical serpent that bites its own tail. In a new paper that provides the most detail yet about the life and death of a monstrous thunder-and-lightning storm on Saturn, scientists from NASA’s Cassini mission describe how the massive storm churned around the planet until it encountered its own tail and sputtered out.

It is the first time scientists have observed a storm consume itself in this way anywhere in the solar system.

This set of images from NASA’s Cassini mission shows the evolution of a massive thunder-and-lightning storm that circled all the way around Saturn and fizzled when it ran into its own tail. The storm was first detected on Dec. 5th, 2010. That month, it developed a head of bright clouds quickly moving west and spawned a much slower-drifting clockwise-spinning vortex. Nashville Predators get 2-1 shootout win over Los Angeles Kings

Los Angeles, CA – In the eight round of the shootout, Nashville Predators’ Sergei Kostitsyn moves in quickly with a little left and right move to bang the goal past Los Angele Kings’ goaltender Jonathan Quick to give the Predators a 2-1 win Thursday night at the Stables Center.
