Clarksville Police reports Man Runs from Officers, crashes on Riverside Drive

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On February 3rd, 2012, a little after midnight, Clarksville Police Officer David Sohn was in the area of O’ Charley’s on Riverside Drive and clocked a silver Dodge pickup, using radar,  traveling 86 miles per hour on Riverside Drive.

Due to the high rate of speed of the pickup, Officer Sohn radioed to see if any other vehicles in the area could get behind the vehicle and attempt a traffic stop.

Sgt Jimmy Brown, Montgomery County Sheriffs’ Department, spotted the vehicle and clocked it going over 90 mph shortly before the driver lost control and crashed into a retaining wall at the intersection of Crossland Avenue and Riverside drive.

Officer Sohn arrived at the scene and the driver had already fled from the vehicle, leaving an injured female passenger alone, and ran behind a business at 601 North Riverside Drive. The man, identified as Daniel Cruz, was caught a short time later with the assistance of a helpful citizen and taken into custody.
