Clarksville, TN – After knocking off Northern Kentucky last weekend, Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team opens the Ohio Valley Conference slate with home matches against Eastern Kentucky (10:00am, Saturday) and Morehead State (10:00am, Sunday).
Saturday’s match will be held at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts, with Sunday’s scheduled to move inside the Governors Tennis Center.

Austin Peay picked up its season’s second victory, March 9th, at Northern Kentucky in a 7-0 sweep. No Lady Gov was pushed to a third set and it established momentum for an Austin Peay squad in need of some good news heading into the conference schedule. It was the Lady Govs first road victory since March 10th, 2012 against Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Lady Colonels boast three of the OVC’s best players: Amandine Faouzi, Melissa Gerristen and Kristina Labeja each found a spot on the preseason Top 10 rankings as voted by the conference’s head coaches. The defending conference champions enter the weekend 7-5, having won two of their last three matches following losses to ranked foes Georgia State and Kentucky.
Morehead State has struggled in the early going, ending the non-conference season 1-9, including an 0-6 mark on the road. Freshman Sandrine Beaule and senior Victoria Cran each have two singles victories for the Eagles during spring dual season.
