APSU Governors Tennis defeats Eastern Kentucky Colonels

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University swept the top four singles matches and took the doubles point to avenge a 2012 OVC Tournament loss to Eastern Kentucky, defeating the Colonels, 5-2, to open the Ohio Valley Conference slate, Saturday.

There’s Still Time to Contribute to an IRA for 2012

You have until your tax return due date (not including extensions) to contribute up to $5,000 for 2012 ($6,000 if you were age 50 by December 31st, 2012). For most taxpayers, the contribution deadline for 2012 is April 15th, 2013.

United States Junior Golf Tour at Swan Lake Golf Course greeted with wet, windy conditions

 

United States Junior Golf TourClarksville, TN – Some of the top junior golfers in the south were greeted by wet and windy conditions at Swan Lake Golf Course today as the United States Junior Golf Tour held the first of two events scheduled for Clarksville in 2013.

The tournaments are open to boys and girls ages 8-18, with each age group competing for their division title.

Clarksville Police subdued Suicidal Man with gun who wanted a battle with Police

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On March 16th, 2013, around 3:15pm, Clarksville Police responded to a 911 call about a man with a gun on Klines Alley who wanted a gun battle with Police.

Officer Patrick Wyatt was the first officer to arrive and saw an intoxicated 66 year old man sitting on the porch of a West Washington Street (Klines Alley and West Washington Street intersect) residence holding a rifle.

Clarksville Civil War RoundtableClarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, March 20th, 2013 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Hospital. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public.  Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Fort Campbell units receive Scholarship Grants from Tennessee Titans Owner and the NFL Foundation

 

Titans Owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. and the NFL Foundation recently awarded scholarship grants to elite Army units.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Tennessee Titans Owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. and the National Football League Foundation recently awarded $5,000 in grants to the scholarship funds for two of the Army’s proudest units.

One grant was made to the Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) S.O.A.R (A).  That unit is more commonly known as the Night Stalkers and provides helicopter support for our nation’s special operations missions.

Indoor Aquatic Center to host Toddler Splash April 3rd

 

Indoor Aquatic Center - New ProvidenceClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the Toddler Splash at the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, on April 3rd.

Kids ages 1 to 5-years-old can shake those winter blues away with April’s “Flowers and Bugs” theme by enjoying water games, springtime crafts, and a “Fishing Pond.”
