Nashville Predators lose 4-3 to Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday night

Nashville PredatorsColumbus, OH – The Nashville Predators found themselves down 4-1 to the Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday night with three minutes remaining in the 3rd period.

Thats when Chris Mueller puts a wrist shot past Blue Jackets goalminder Sergei Bobrovsky at the 17:59 mark. Just 0.47 seconds later, Mike Fisher hits a backhand shot to bring the Predators within 1 with 1:13 remaining.

Buts thats as close as they got. Columbus was able to hold Nashville off to win 4-3 at Nationwide Arena. The Predators completed their five game road trip 1-4.

The scoring began in the second period when Fedor Tyutin knocked a wrist shot past Predators goalie Pekka Rinne to put the Blue Jackets up 1-0 at the 4:08 mark. Five minutes later, Mark Letestu gets a goal for Columbus.

Gabriel Bourque puts the Predators on the board at 14:45 to make it a 2-1 game at the end of two.

Columbus got in a groove in the third period getting a goal from Nikita Nikitin and then another 2 minutes later by Derick Brassard putting the Blue Jackets up 4-1.

A late Predators rally nets two scores but falls short at the end.

“I know some guys are playing over their heads,” Predators coach Barry Trotz said. “Some guys quite clearly can’t play at this level, that’s plain and simple. We’re going to sort that out and go from there. Some guys, I’m not happy with their game. They have to give us more. And I can go top to bottom. There’s some guys in that locker room who can give us a lot more, and that’s the part that bothers me.”

The Predators have little time to find answers if their going to get back in the playoff hunt. At 28 points, their on the outside looking in at the postseason top eight in the Western conference.

The Predators take on the Calgary Flames at Bridgestone Arena Thursday, March 21st. This will be the first of a four game homestand for the Preds. The game starts at 7:00pm
