Clarksville Police DUI Arrests for March 18th-March 23rd, 2013

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – In an effort to bring more attention to drivers that drink and drive, the Clarksville Police Department is consolidating and publishing the circumstances which lead to the DUI arrest. They are arrests, not convictions.

The week started off great and there were no DUIs from the 18th to the 23rd , then things went downhill. There were a total of 15 for the week.

Five of those charged with DUIs had been charged previously, one less than three weeks ago.

Four involved motor vehicle crashes, one of those occurred in September 2012, but we just received toxicology results, so a DUI charge was filed.

The Blood Alcohol Content ranged from .67 – .175 with the legal limit being .08.

John Wilson

John WilsonOn 03/23/2013 at 00:21 hours, Officer G. Mefford (5388) responded to a Driving Under The Influence at 868 Kraft Street. I initiated a traffic stop on a blue in color Jeep Cherokee for failing to come to a complete stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection of Kraft Street and Summer Street.

Upon approach, I made contact with the operator, John Wilson. Mr Wilson had slurred speech and I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Mr Wilson´s person.

I asked Mr Wilson to step out of the vehicle and as he did so was unsteady on his feet. I asked Mr Wilson to perform a series of standardized field sobriety tests in which he consented and performed poorly. Mr Wilson was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. Upon arrival, Mr. Wilson was advised of the Tennessee Implied Consent Law and consented to a breath test.

Jessica Hunt

Jessica HuntOn 03/23/2013 at 00:43 hours, Officer Channing Bartel observed the defendants vehicle traveling west on Old Trenton Road between Peterson Lane and West Drive. Stationary radar showed the vehicle to be traveling 48 mph in a posted 35 mph zone. I conducted a traffic stop at 1523 Nolen Road.

On first contact with Miss Jessica Hunt, I could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Miss Hunt voluntarily exited her vehicle and performed three SFST’s. During this performance, I observed clues that would indicate alcohol impairment.

Miss Hunt was secured and the Tennessee Implied Consent Law was explained. Defendant elected to the Intoximeter at Montgomery County Booking and a reading of .116 % was recorded. Miss Hunt is 20 years of age and the limit for her age group is .02%. The listed witnesses were all passengers in the vehicle. Miss Hunt was transported to Montgomery County Booking.

Michael Harton

Michael HartonOn 03/23/2013 at 01:07 hours, Officer Lukasz observed the defendant vehicle traveling South on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard. Stationary radar showed the vehicle to be traveling 56 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. I conducted a traffic stop at 1525 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

On first contact with Mr Michael Harton, I could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Mr. Harton voluntarily exited his vehicle and performed three SFST’s. During this performance I observed clues that would indicate alcohol impairment.

Mr. Harton was secured and the Tennessee Implied Consent Law was explained. Mr. Harton was secured and transported to Montgomery County Booking. Mr. Harton consented to a breath test.

Trevor Briggs

Trevor BriggsOn 03/23/2013 at 01:37 hours, Officer Brittany Feinberg (2572) conducted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Charger at 792 North Second Street for driving without headlights.

I made contact with the driver, Trevor Briggs. Mr. Briggs had an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person, bloodshot eyes, and was slow to respond. I asked Mr. Briggs to perform SFSTs, to which he performed poorly.

Mr. Briggs was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail for DUI and Driving Without Headlights at Night. Mr. Briggs was read implied consent and consented to a breath test at the jail. Mr. Briggs has no DUI history.

Bond: $750.00

Joshua Brown

Joshua BrownOn 03/23/2013 at 02:31 hours, Officer Brad Holder (1367) responded to a Driving Under The Influence at 955 North Riverside Drive. The vehicle in which Mr. Joshua Brown was diving was clocked using stationary radar on Kraft Street. near Action Air traveling 52mph in a 30mph zone.

Upon making contact with Mr. Brown it was observed that he had an odor of an intoxicating beverage emitting from his person. Mr. Brown was asked to step out of the vehicle and perform SFST’s in which he did but performed poorly on. Mr. Brown did have bloodshot eyes and was unsteady on his feet as he exited the vehicle and throughout the SFST’s.

Mr. Brown’s state of TN license is revoked for Driving while Intoxicated with an action date of 12/24/12. Mr. Brown was taken into custody and transported to booking where he did submit to a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content which produced a result.

David Houston

David HoustonOn 03/23/2013 at 02:43 hours, Officer Keith Jones (3855) responded to a Driving Under The Influence at Old Hopkinsville Road and Eva Drive. While stationary at Sonic drive thru on US 41A, I did notice two males stumbling in the parking lot and walking towards a black colored SUV on Old Hopkinsville Road.

I made contact with both individuals and noticed that they were opening the car doors and attempting to enter the vehicle. The male that was entering the driver side of the vehicle was identified as Mr. David Houston. While speaking with Mr. David Houston I noticed he had blood shot watery eyes, slurred speech and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person.

Mr. Houston voluntarily submitted to SFST’s which he performed unsuccessfully. Mr. Houston was transported to Montgomery County Jail.

Jerry Cantero

Jerry CanteroOn 03/23/2013 at 02:57 hours, Sgt. G. Beebe observed vehicle #1 Toyota Tundra, traveling southbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard with the two left side tires blown out driving on the rims. Sgt. Beebe initiated a traffic stop for suspected Driving Under The Influence at Fort Campbell Boulevard at Brookside Drive.

I backed up Sgt. Beebe shortly after the stop was initiated. Sgt. Beebe made initial contact with the Driver, suspect Jerry Cantero. Mr. Cantero seemed oblivious to the fact that his tires were blown out and when Sgt. Beebe informed him Mr. Cantero began to look for his spare tire.

I was familiar with Mr. Cantero, I had arrested him for DUI on 03-09-2013.  Mr. Cantero’s eyes were glassy, unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Mr. Cantero was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, backwards, with the hood in the front and pockets on his back.

Mr. Cantero said he would not participate in any SFST’s. I asked Mr. Cantero if he would submit to a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content.  Mr. Cantero was taken into custody and booked into Montgomery County Jail.

Charges: DUI and Implied Consent
Bond: $1,000

But being held without bond due to bond surrender.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad AliOn 09/28/2012 at 23:12 hours, Officer C MacMillan (2241) responded to a wreck at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Fort Campbell’s Gate 3. The driver, Mr. Muhammad Ali, had veered over a grass median and into oncoming traffic, causing a head-on collision (see case # WC1204848).

Mr. Ali was transported to Gateway ER where he voluntarily gave a blood sample. The blood results came back from TBI with positive reading for an intoxicant.

A warrant was obtained for his arrest. On 03/23/2013 at 21:14 hours, Officer C MacMillan (2241) wrote a continuation/supplement for a Driving Under The Influence at Fort Campbell Boulevard. After obtaining a warrant for Mr. Ali, he was called and asked to come to the precinct for questioning.

Mr. Ali arrived at 19:30. He was taken into custody and transported to Montgomery County jail for booking.

Antonio Diaz

Antonio DiazOn 03/24/2013 at 00:48 hours, Officer Beau Skinner (2825) observed a red Ford Mustang traveling westbound on Hwy 48-13. The aforementioned vehicle was operating without its headlights on, parking lights only. I observed that the vehicle was noticeably swerving once I was able to get behind it.

I initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in front of 109 Greenland Farms Drive. Upon making contact with the suspect (Antonio Diaz), I could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person.

Mr. Diaz did state that he had consumed alcohol earlier in the day. There was an open Keystone Light beer can sitting upright on the passenger side floorboard, the can was roughly half full. The can was photographed and submitted into evidence.

Mr. Diaz performed poorly on the standardized field sobriety tests administered to him and was taken into custody. His TN drivers license is suspended for DUI, action date of 08/23/2011. Mr. Diaz gave a breath sample at the Montgomery County Jail.

Niecha Hampton

Niecha HamptonOn 03/24/2013 at 02:15 hours, Officer Monica Westbrook (5612) responded to a crash at 1962 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Niecha Hampton was driving a Chevrolet Impala and attempted to leave the parking lot of Callee’s Too at which time she hit several other vehicles.

Upon making contact with Ms. Hampton she had blood shot watery eyes and had an intoxicating beverage about her person. Ms. Hampton was asked to perform 3 SFSTs and Romberg which she did not perform satisfactory.

A check of her drivers license came back suspended. She was arrested and transported to booking where she did submit to a breath test.

Caleb Stallons

Caleb StallonsOn 03/24/2013 at 03:05 hours, Sgt. Michael W. Caver (2350) stopped the defendant for driving with no lights on during hours of darkness. The defendant and driver, Caleb Stallons, admitted to consuming beer.

Mr. Stallons was administered four (4) field sobriety tasks in which he didn’t perform satisfactorily. Mr. Stallons was advised he was under arrest and was asked to submit to a breath test.

While at booking, Mr. Stallons did submit to the Intox EC/IR II.

Andrew Hakes

Andrew HakesOn 03/24/2013 at 03:10 hours, Officer Matt Ferrell (1481) responded to a Driving Under The Influence at North 2nd Street/Forbes Avenue. While on the scene of a wreck at the listed location, Mr Andrew Hakes was one of the of driver’s involved in the wreck.

Mr Hakes had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and had slurred speech. Mr Hakes refused EMS transport to Gateway for his injuries. Mr Hakes was asked to perform the standard field sobriety test which he performed poorly on.

Mr Hakes was placed into custody for driving under the influence. Running Mr Hakes drivers license showed revoked license for DUI on February 20th 2010. Mr Hakes was read the Implied Consent Advisement which he consented to a blood draw.

Mr Hakes was then transported to Gateway for the blood draw and to also get medically evaluated for his injuries. Blood was taken at Gateway and results are pending.

Bond: $5,000.

Diallo Roberts

Diallo RobertsOn 03/24/2013 at 04:55 hours, Officer Keith Jones (3855) responded to a Driving Under The Influence at US 41A and Cunningham Lane. While sitting stationary at US 41A and 101st Airborne Parkway, the radar mounted on my patrol car did clock a red colored pickup traveling at 64 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.

I initiated a traffic stop at US 41A and Cunningham Lane at which I made contact with the operator of the vehicle whom was identified as Mr. Diallo Roberts. While speaking with Mr. Roberts, I did notice he had blood shot watery eyes, slurred speech and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person.

Mr. Roberts voluntarily submitted to SFST’s which he performed unsuccessfully. Mr. Roberts was transported to Montgomery County Jail.

Earl Brouillette

Earl BrouilletteOn 03/24/2013 at 18:44 hours, Officer Channing Bartel responded to 2611 41- A By Pass for a hit run accident without injuries. Mr. Earl Brouillette was traveling west on Madison Street when he rear-end another vehicle at that the red light at the intersection of Madison Street and the 76 Connector. Mr. Brouillette drove away and was detained about one mile away on the By-Pass by witnesses.

Upon arrival while Officer Alexander was out with the defendant, Mr. Broulillette. I spoke to several witnesses that had followed the defendant to the parking lot of 2611 41-A By Pass. Mr. Haddock observed the accident and followed Mr. Brouillette to the GOAD Construction parking lot. A bystander removed the keys from Mr. Brouillette vehicle and held him on the scene till law enforcement officers arrived.

All listed witnesses followed the defendant to where he parked and all witnesses stated he attempted to walk away from his vehicle but he was held on the scene by a bystander All listed witnesses stated Mr. Brouillette was the only person in the vehicle. Speaking with Mr. Brouillette I could detect a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person when he spoke to me. Mr. Brouillette’s speech was lethargic and thick at times. The defendants eyes were very blood shot and watery.

Mr. Brouillette refused to perform any SFST’s. The defendant was secured and the Tennessee Implied Consent Law was explained. Mr. Brouillette has one DUI conviction 07-06-2004 out of the state of SC. A mandatory blood draw was conducted at EMS station 22#, by Cpt. Gary Perry. Mr. Brouillette had a Tennessee ID card only. TBI Blood kit was turned into evidence. The defendant was transported to Montgomery County Booking after mandatory blood draw.

Charges: DUI, Implied Consent, No D.L, Leaving the Scene of Accident
Bond: $6,000.

Leslie Lagerquist

Leslie LagerquistOn 03/25/2013 at 01:40 hours, while on patrol of the Hwy 12 area around Excell Road Officer Channing Bartel observed Leslie Lagerquist vehicle in motion. The defendants vehicle was traveling east on Hwy 12, during this observation period I did observe the vehicle cross over the center line twice and the right fog line once.

On first contact with Mr. Lagerquist I observed blood shot, watery eyes and when he spoke to me I could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Mr. Lagerquist voluntarily exited his motor vehicle and performed three SFST’s. During this performance I observed clues that would indicate alcohol impairment.

Mr. Lagerquist was secured and delivered to Montgomery County Booking. The Tennesse Implied Law was explained to the defendant at Booking and the Intoximeter was made ready. Defendant has no previous DUI history.
