Fabbro joined the Lady Govs at the beginning of spring semester, adding depth up front for an already-talented Lady Govs squad that returns 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year Tatiana Ariza and six-goal scorer Andy Quiceno. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native will be nearly 2,500 miles from home during her Lady Govs career.

An accomplished goal-scorer, Fabbro won the Golden Boot Award (most goals scored) during the 2010 Super Y-League Girls U16 Tournament, en route to All-Tournament honors. She’s also spent time in the development program of the Vancouver Whitecaps of the W-League and played in the B.C. Youth Premier League with Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC.

“Gina came in mid-year and has done very well for us,” said head coach Kelley Guth, herself a native Canadian. “She’s made a smooth transition into the college game. She’s getting a good opportunity to get some experience and I’m excited to see what she’ll bring to the table in the fall.”

Sheppard also played for Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC as a midfielder. The Port Moody, B.C. native was the program’s Player of the Year in 2012, and parlayed that performance into Pac West Rookie of the Year and First-Team All-Star for Langara College.

She joins a packed midfield on the Lady Govs roster that includes three seniors (Natalia Ariza, Joceline Quiceno and Morgan Zigelsky) along with six other incoming student-athletes.

“Courtney had a great year in her first college season,” Guth said. “She’s a worker and a very technical player. She and Gina both played at a very high level on their youth squads. She’ll bring some experience and add depth to our midfield come fall.”
