Austin Peay (25-6, 9-1 OVC) had one big inning in the contest, using a three-run third inning to build a 3-1 advantage. Second baseman Jordan Hankins tied the game with his RBI single and first baseman Craig Massoni gave APSU its only lead with a two-run double.

Tennessee Tech (22-9, 11-3 OVC) charged back in the fourth as third baseman Daniel Miles and shortstop Dylan Bosheers hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game.

Jordan HankinsIt was the first time those two connected against the Govs, one inning later Miles hit a two-run home run and Bosheers followed with a solo blast to give the Golden Eagles a 6-3 lead they would not relinquish.

The Govs would get one of those runs back in the fifth on Hankins sacrifice fly. However, Miles made an Austin Peay error hurt in the sixth inning with a three-run home run –his third of the game – to push the lead out to 10-4.

Austin Peay did not go quietly, bringing the tying run to the plate in the ninth. Massoni started the rally with a RBI single. Shortstop Reed Harper and pinch hitter P.J. Torres each had two-out RBIs, cutting the lead to 10-7. Tennessee Tech closer Seth Lucio escaped the jam with a strike out.

Govs starter Casey Delgado (5-2) could not find his rhythm on the mound and suffered the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings.

Craig MassoniMassoni reached base in all five of his plate appearances, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and was hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance. Right fielder Rolando Gautier extended his hit streak to 11 games with a 2-for-4, three runs scored outing.

Tennessee Tech reliever David Hess (3-1) picked up the win, holding Austin Peay to one run on three hits over 3.2 innings. Starter Ross Spurgeon allowed three runs over the opening 2.1 innings.

Miles led Tennessee Tech with a 3-for-4, three home run, six RBI performance. Bosheers was 2-for-4 with two home runs and two RBI. Right fielder Michael Morris added a 3-for-5 outing.

Austin Peay and Tennessee Tech wrap up their three-game OVC series with a 1:00pm, Sunday contest.
