Clarksville Police wants to make the Public aware of Phone Scam

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – Recently the Clarksville Police Department has received complaints that an unknown individual(s) have been contacting citizens by phone representing themselves as a representative from a law enforcement agency.

The suspect(s) advise the complainants that there has been a warrant issued for the complainants arrest. In order to avoid being taken into custody a payment and/or bond is required to be made over the phone.

None of these incidents have involved suspect(s) representing themselves as a Clarksville Police Department Officer until today.

The Clarksville Police Department wants the public to be aware this occurring, and that is not standard operating procedures.

The Clarksville Police Department doesn’t accept any payments or bonds in lieu of being taken into custody, because the Clarksville Police Department doesn’t have a Holding Facility.

There hasn’t been any reports at this time to my knowledge because no one has paid any money.
