Children’s and Adult Choir Concerts Fill the Air with Music at The Renaissance Center

From Traditional to Pop Favorites and Patriotic Medleys

The Renaissance CenterDickson, TN – The Renaissance Center’s Children’s and Adult Choirs have slated their Spring Concerts for Tuesday, May 7th (Children’s Choirs) and Thursday, May 9th (Adult Choirs). Tickets to both concerts are $5.00 and help support the choir programs, which are free to participate.

Tickets may be purchased the night of the events. Both the Children’s and Adult Choirs are directed by Chris Greene with piano accompaniment by Marianna Wakeman.

The Children’s Choirs will present their popular Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 7th, at 7:00pm in The Renaissance Center’s Anne Deason Performance Hall. Under the direction of Chris Greene, the concert will feature traditional as well as more contemporary music and many of the children will have solos. The list of participating students is below.

The Training Choir is comprised of children in 1st and 2nd grades, and is open to all without an audition. The focus is placed on teaching the fundamentals of music reading and vocal technique. The Children’s Choir, covering students in 3rd to 7th grades, requires an audition and includes more advanced vocal techniques.

Children’s Training Choir members (1st and 2nd grades):

Abby Owen, Abigail Hickerson, Amelia Brady, Billy Miller, Charlie Greene, Claire Jackson, Daniel Jones, Ella Blaylock, Ella Kindred, Fionna Geise, Jasmin Tellez, Jenna Street, Jordan Worley, Joshua Isbell, Josie Spidle, Leah Wauford, Leslie Jones, Mary Ann Dawson, Mary Grace White, Mikayla Turman, Noah Bates, Reagan Spencer, Rion Bates, Sylvia Davis.

The Training Choir program features a variety of songs including “When you Wish upon a Star”, “My Shadow”, “Three Little Fishies” and more.

Children’s Choir members (3rd – 7th grades):

Allie Musick,  Amber Isbell, Andrea Johnson, Andrea Miller, Ashlee Jackson, Ben Givens, Brianna Isbell, Brie Walker, Brittany Lampley, Chasity Kindred, Chloe Isbell, Emma Nolan, Faith Walls, Hannah Sullivan, Hannah White, Heather Isbell, Johnna Primm, Joshua White, Justice Potts, Katherine Matthews, Katie Williams, Kaylee Owen, Kylea Heath, Madalyn Spicer, Nate Young, Nikki Penner, Reagan Musick, Rebecca Davis, Ryan Griffeth, Rylee Deems, Sara Hook, Sarah McCoy, Selena Tellez, Shelby Zacharias, Trey Milam.

The Children’s Choir program features a wide variety of music from folk songs, to Broadway titles, to songs from the movies. Some of their selections include “Life is a Highway”, “Kids on Broadway”, “Zum Gali Gali”, “Follow the Drinkin’ Gourd” and many more.

All of the training and children’s choir members will close the concert with a patriotic medley.

The Adult Choirs will present their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 9th, at 7:00pm in The Renaissance Center’s Anne Deason Performance Hall.  Under the direction of Chris Greene, the concert will feature traditional as well as more contemporary music.

The Adult Community Chorus provides an opportunity for amateur and experienced singers to participate in a well-trained vocal ensemble and is made up of 8th graders through adults who sing a wide variety of music. The Spring concert includes “Prayer of the Children”, “A Broadway Medley”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Witness” and more.

The Adult Chamber Choir is a smaller group, auditioned from the larger Community choir, who sing a harder repertoire of music. Some of their selections include “Music’s Empire”, “Operator”, “Brown Eyed Girl”, “A Branch of May”, “For Good” and many more. The concert will conclude with a salute to the armed forces medley.
