Tennessee Titans grab Nevada cornerback Khalid Wooten in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft

Tennessee TitansKhalid WootenNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans added another cornerback in the sixth round, selecting Nevada’s Khalid Wooten with the 202nd overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Wooten earned All-Mountain West Second-Team honors as a senior, recording 53 tackles, two interceptions (one returned for a TD), and 14 pass defenses. Wooten also returned 16 punts for 242 yards.

Wooten redshirted his first year after excelling as a two-way threat in high school (he was the league MVP as a dual-purpose quarterback and safety in his senior year). He only started once during the course of his freshman and sophomore years, but still intercepted two passes each season while totaling 31 tackles.

Wooten took advantage of his opportunity to play in 2011, making 73 stops, picking off four passes, breaking up five others and forcing three fumbles.

In the Combine, he ran a 4.53 second 40 yard dash, had a 33.5 inch vertical leap, did a 117 inch broad jump and was a top performer in the 60 TD shuttle at 11.41 seconds. His hometown is Rialto, CA. He attended Carter High School.

Wooten is the second cornerback drafted by the Titans after the club selected Connecticut’s Blidi Wreh-Wilson in the third round. Both of the Titans’ new cornerbacks have plenty of size. Wreh-Wilson is over 6 feet tall. Wooten is 5-11 and 205 pounds.
