Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans has selected LSU defensive lineman Lavar Edwards in the 5th round of the 2013 NFL Draft with the 142nd overall pick.
At 6-foot-4, 277 pounds, Edwards can not only edge rush, but can press the pocket while engaged. He has the speed to chase down quarterbacks and to keep up with runningbacks. He reads the option well and is a good run defender.
At LSU, he played in 52 games with 15 starts, including seven as a sophomore in 2010 and six as a senior in 2012. He finished his career with 96 tackles, 20.0 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. In his career with the Tigers, he scored two touchdowns. One was a 29 yard fumble recovery against Louisiana-Monroe and the other was a 23 yard interception return against Idaho.
