Austin Peay State University Baseball’s P.J.Torres hits walk-off home run to propel Governors to 9-8 win over Morehead State

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team got two home runs from catcher P.J. Torres, May 3rd at Raymond C. Hand Park — including a game-winning walk-off in the bottom of the 10th inning — as the Govs defeated the Morehead State University Eagles in an Ohio Valley Conference contest, 9-8.

American Red Cross Transitions Flood Recovery Efforts

 

Residents Encouraged to Prepare for More Rain and Potential Floods this Weekend

American Red CrossClarksville, TN – As Stewart, Houston, Montgomery and surrounding county residents continue their clean-up efforts after Saturday’s flash flood, 58 Red Cross volunteers have worked for the past five days to ensure that residents have had access to food, shelter, emotional support and clean-up supplies.

APSU Lady Govs Softball closes season with trip to Murray State

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN - Austin Peay State University’s softball team closes out its 2013 regular season with a three-game Ohio Valley Conference weekend series at Murray State.

Weather permitting, the series will start for the Lady Govs (18-24, 9-15 OVC) with a noon, Saturday doubleheader and conclude with a 1:00pm, Sunday single game.

LEAP celebrates Four year Anniversary

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – April 29th, 2013 marked the 4 Year Anniversary for the LEAP Organization being registered as a 501c3 nonprofit organization. From its humble beginnings, the Clarksville based organization has grown to provide youth development services in Robertson County and Cheatham County.

To celebrate reaching this milestone the organization reached out to Chic Fil A on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard to create an family friendly atmosphere that encouraged board members, staff, volunteers, community partners, parents, and youth in the program to get to know one another.

Richview Middle School Girls Golf Team flirting with Perfection

 

Richview Middle SchoolClarksville, TN – Heading into its final tournament of the year, Richview Middle School girls golf team not only has a dream of a region tournament title on its mind it has perfection in its sites.

When the Lady Cowboys won the District M2 title May 2nd at Swan Lake Golf course by 13 shots over runner-up Dickson County Middle they improved their record to 24-0 on the season.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Boat Ramps at Liberty Park reopened Friday Afternoon

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is reopening the boat ramps at Liberty Park Friday afternoon. The remainder of the park remains closed to the public while park maintenance crews continue cleanup from last weekend’s flooding.

We are asking the public not to attempt to access areas of the park that are still closed.

Fort Campbell Open Competition Martial Arts Tournament

 

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – SKIES Unlimited has teamed up with Brandt’s Martial Arts Program to offer the BMAP/SKIES Screaming Eagle Kumite, Martial Arts Tournament on May 18th, starting at 11:00am.

APSU receives 8-figure gift in memory of former educator

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – There was a noticeable energy around the Austin Peay State University campus on Tuesday. APSU President Tim Hall planned to announce a “transforming gift” that afternoon, prompting faculty, staff, students and the community at large to keep asking, “What is it?”

Their curiosity was apparently overwhelming because a crowd of people packed into the Morgan University Center ballroom, requiring APSU officials to set out more chairs. Finally, after some brief introductions, Hall stepped behind the podium.

Clarksville Downtown Market to Open May 18th

 

Clarksville Downtown MarketClarksville, TN – When the 2013 Clarksville Downtown Market opens on Saturday, May 18th, approximately 70 vendors will be on hand to offer local fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, milk, home décor, seasonal flowers and more. The Clarksville Downtown Market will be open from 8:00am to 1:00pm every Saturday through October 19th on Public Square.

Opening Day of the Market will also feature musical performances by Eric Compton & the APSU’s Community School of the Arts, cooking demonstration by Kristina Waters, Arts and Crafts for Kids by Cynthia Bellar and Chalk, Paper, Scissors, Market bags to the first 500 in attendance and prizes!
