Nashville, TN - The Nashville Sounds’ losing streak reached eight on Saturday evening at The Dell Diamond, where Nashville lost, 8-6, to the Round Rock Express.
Second baseman Scooter Gennett went 2-for-4 for the Sounds to raise his average to .366. He has reached base safely in all 23 of his games this season. First baseman Hunter Morris contributed a 2-for-3 effort and third baseman Stephen Parker extended Nashville’s longest active hitting streak to seven games with a single in the defeat.

Nashville, TN - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Acting Commissioner Burns Phillips announced that the 108th General Assembly passed legislation that continues the funding of unemployment benefits for spouses of military personnel who leave their jobs to transfer to a new assignment.
Funding for the program for the current fiscal year was nearly exhausted, prompting the legislative action.
“We’re pleased the General Assembly approved appropriation for this benefit to trailing spouses for the remainder of this fiscal year as well as for the fiscal year beginning July 1st, 2013,” said Phillips. “This action shows support of our military families and we hope lessens the stress that goes with active duty transfers.” «Read the rest of this article»
State Troopers Will Be Out Statewide Conducting Saturation Efforts and Checkpoints
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol will increase its highway traffic safety enforcement efforts this weekend to coincide with Cinco de Mayo celebrations. State Troopers will focus heavily saturation efforts, seat belt safety, and DUI enforcement.
One person was killed on Tennessee roadways on May 1st, 2012.
“When the temperatures begin to increase this time of year, more motorists start taking to the roadways. The Tennessee Highway Patrol will aggressively enforce our state’s seat belt and impaired driving laws to protect the public this Cinco de Mayo weekend and as we head into the summer months,” Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons said.
Clarksville, TN – The recipient of the 2013 Command Sgt. Maj. Darol Walker Award at Austin Peay State University is one of the nation’s top ROTC cadets.
Cadet Nathan Brewer with APSU’s Governors Guard Battalion of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) was presented the award during a breakfast ceremony held Thursday, May 2nd at APSU. He already has prior military service, having been assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group and 82nd Airborne Division.
