Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

Summer Program Guide now available!

Movies in the Park to Show “Wreck It Ralph” this Saturday

Movies in the ParkJoin us Saturday, May 11th, at Heritage Park soccer fields for Movies in the Park, featuring the movie, “Wreck It Ralph,” rated PG.

Movies begin at dusk, with pre-show activities, “Move before the Movies”, taking place an hour prior. Be sure to bring your blankets and lawn chairs. As always, you are welcome to bring your picnic basket, but concessions will also be available. Sorry, no pets allowed.

Visit, www.cityofclarksville.com/moviesinthepark now thru July 10th to vote on the People’s Choice movie. The movie with the most votes will be shown at Liberty Park on August 10th.

50 Plus Olympics

2013 Clarksville 50+ OlympicsBe sure and register for the 2013 50 Plus Olympics! Registration is $25.00 per participant and includes t-shirt, goody bag and one closing dinner ticket. Additional dinner tickets are available for purchase. Events such as golf, may require an additional fee. Events take place May 14th-18th.

This event is open to those at least 50-years-old and takes place at various locations in Clarksville. You don’t have to be a pro to compete! Competitors can enjoy golf, bowling, table tennis, pickleball, basketball, badminton, horseshoes, shuffleboard, swimming events, track & field events, disc golf, cornhole, lawn darts and ladderball. Competitors can enjoy a delicious and fun meal at the closing dinner!

Sleep Under the Stars Campout

Sleep under the StarsJoin us for a bonfire, games and much more at our Family Campout, Saturday, May 18th, at 2:00pm to Sunday, May 19th, at 9:00am at Billy Dunlop Park. Cost is $5.00 per person or $20.00 for a family up to 6 members. This family adventure will include an afternoon and evening full of festivities to include a hot dog dinner and breakfast the next morning.

Families will need to provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult the entire camp out. Don’t miss out, register today at recpro.cityofclarksville.com. Billy Dunlop Park will be closed to the public for this event.

Clarksville Downtown Market to Open May 18th

Clarksville Downtown MarketThe 2013 Clarksville Downtown Market opens Saturday, May 18th, with approximately 70 vendors on hand offering local fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, milk, décor, seasonal flowers and more. The Clarksville Downtown Market will be open Saturdays from 8:00am to 1:00pm through October 19th on Public Square.

Opening Day of the Market will also feature musical performances by Eric Compton & the APSU’s Community School of the Arts, cooking demonstrations by Kristina Waters, Arts and Crafts for Kids by Cynthia Bellar and Chalk, Paper, Scissors, Market bags to the first 500 in attendance and prizes!
