APSU Men’s Golf Team headed to Tempe Arizona for NCAA Tournament

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf team will be heading west to participate in the NCAA Division I Regional.

The Governors, who were awarded a No. 12 seed after earning the Ohio Valley Conference automatic bid with their recent tourney championship, will head to Tempe, AZ, to play at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

Nashville Sounds Kick-Off Homestand with Exciting Promotions

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN - The Nashville Sounds return to Greer Stadium this Tuesday, May 7th, for their third homestand of the season: an eight-game stretch in which the team welcomes the Fresno Grizzlies (San Francisco Giants affiliate) for four games spanning May 7th-10th, and the Sacramento River Cats (Oakland A’s affiliate) from May 11th-14th.

Highlighting the homestand’s worth of promotions will be two fireworks extravaganzas, one BURGER KING Throwback Thursday when fans can enjoy $2.00 concession items, two Education Days, and the first of six Trevecca Nazarene University FAITH NIGHTS®.

Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf Tournament taking Registrations

 

2013 Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf TournamentClarksville, TN - Organizers of the Mickey Fisher Memorial Golf Tournament have announced the dates for this year’s event.

This annual golf tournament, in memory of the late Mickey Fisher, will benefit the Mickey Fisher Scholarship fund, an endowment to benefit dependents of wounded or fallen Fort Campbell soldiers with scholarships to Austin Peay State University.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN - The Nashville Sounds avoided going winless on their eight-game road trip Monday at The Dell Diamond, rallying from four runs down to defeat the Round Rock Express, 9-5, in the nine-inning, three-hour, 46-minute series finale.

The team concludes the road trip 1-7, snapping a nine-game losing skid with their first win on the road since April 13th.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Volleyball releases 2013 Schedule

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Contests against Southeastern Conference foes Tennessee and Missouri highlight the Austin Peay State University women’s volleyball 2013 schedule, head coach Taylor Mott released Monday.

Austin Peay , which posted a 17-16 record last season, will begin the 2013 campaign with 16 away games – the opening weekend in August and the entirety of September. The Lady Govs will open a nine-match home slate with an October 1st contest against Murray State.

Military-Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony May 8th for APSU spring grads

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Active duty and military veteran students who will graduate from Austin Peay State University this week will receive APSU’s military coin.

The military and veteran graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony, with the theme “All Hail to Those Who Serve,” is scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, May 8th in the Mabry Concert Hall, located inside the Music/Mass Communication Building. The event is open to the public.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department announces Maple Lane Water Outage Planned

 

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

Clarksville Gas and Water DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has planned a water outage on Maple Lane, Rudolph Drive and Riverview Drive tomorrow morning at 9:00am until 12:00pm. Weather permitting, construction crews will replace a fire hydrant on Rudolph Drive.

Area residents may experience low water pressure during the work.

APSU has first Student in it’s history receive Sigma Delta Pi National Grant

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University student will be the first in the school’s history to receive the Sigma Delta Pi National Hispanic Honor Society Undergraduate Study Abroad Award.

Nancy G. Diaz, a double major in nursing and foreign languages with a concentration in Spanish, is the recipient of the national grant for 2013. She is the first APSU student to receive this grant, said Dr. Miguel Ruiz-Aviles, adviser of the Hispanic honor society at APSU and professor of Spanish.
