Roxy Regional Theatre to Launch 31st Season with Monty Python’s “Spamalot”

Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – At a soirée last Tuesday evening at the home of arts supporters Mark and Ricki Holleman, the Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville’s oldest live theatre and only professional theatre, unveiled its 31st Anniversary Season.

Under the direction of Tom Thayer, executive director, and John McDonald, artistic director, the theatre will launch the new season on September 13th with the Tony Award-winning musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” — Monty Python’s Spamalot.

Also included in the fall line-up are Simon Levy’s breathtaking adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, the holiday edition of the wildly popular ‘50s musical Forever Plaid, Plaid Tidings, and the whimsical children’s musical A Year With Frog and Toad.

In the winter, the 12th annual Vagina Monologues will play upstairs in the theatre’s theotherspace, while The Tales of Hans Christian Andersen will bring such classic children’s stories as “The Princess and The Pea” and “The Ugly Duckling” to the mainstage.  Ol’ Blue Eyes will return in February with a revival of My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra.  The Roxy’s annual Shakespeare offering will be the Bard’s mistaken-identity comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

The French Revolution will come to the Roxy next spring when Boublil and Schönberg’s acclaimed musical Les Misérables takes the stage, while school-aged audiences will learn about the life of slave turned abolitionist and women’s rights advocate, Sojourner Truth, in A Woman Called Truth.

The Roxy Regional School of the Arts will swing through the end of May in Disney’s Tarzan, while June will yield the hilarious sci-fi musical Little Shop of Horrors. Capping off the season will be the perennial favorite Grease.
