Memorial Day Message from Councilman Bill Summers

Memorial DayClarksville, TN – I want to wish a safe and peaceful Memorial Day Holiday to all. As you join friends and family this holiday and relax in this beautiful weather, take a moment to reflect on those who sacrificed so much in the service of our country to provide a gift that we sometimes take for granted.

That gift being the freedom we live in and experience every day.

In every generation of Americans there have always been those who answer the call of country, that go and fight those who would destroy our freedom and beliefs and who in the hellish heat of battle will stay and sacrifice their own life to ensure accomplishment of the mission and protect their fellow service members.

We owe so much to these brave men and women who ask for so little, or nothing, in return. We owe them our thanks, we owe them honor and remembrance of the sacrifice they made, we owe them our freedom.

While we make a special effort to remember those who fell protecting our country with this holiday, I will ask you to a bit more.  Anytime you see the Stars & Stripes waving in the breeze, anytime you hear our National Anthem playing and anytime you see your children and grandchildren playing, remember those who fought and died to provide you those experiences.

God bless those who served and did not return.  God bless those serving on the front lines as we enjoy this holiday.

Salute,

Bill Summers
