Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The Rivers and Spires Festival is pleased to recognize Kenwood High School as the Clarksville-Montgomery County School with the most student volunteers working at the 2013 Festival.

The students were presented with a trophy and certificate recognizing their commitment to the community-driven event. The school boasted 34 volunteers this year, ten more than the second place school, with several of them coming from their JROTC program.

The Festival runs smoothly every year because of the hard work and commitment of over 700 volunteers who help with everything from set-up to manning ticket booths and late night clean ups. There were 103 high school student volunteers represented from; CMCSS/Middle College, Kenwood High School, Clarksville High School, Rossview High School, Northeast High School and Northwest High School, as well as The Clarksville Academy.

Dana Dunn, volunteer coordinator for the Family Fun Zone said, “ It was a joy to work with the high school volunteers because of their enthusiasm and willingness to work together with other schools.  High Schools often compete on a scholastic or athletic level.  By volunteering together they are learning about giving of themselves to help make a difference, which is often one of the most important lessons in life.”

Each student volunteer served for at least two hours during the three-day Festival. Volunteers were assigned to assist in the Family Fun Zone as well as the information areas, also known as the “Ask Me” booths. Students in the Family Fun Zone helped children on and off of the inflatables, assisted at the vendor booths and helped with volunteer check-in. Ask Me booth volunteers handed out Festival program books, as well as answered questions from passers by.

Along with the school system, the Family Fun Zone has long-standing volunteer support from other local organizations including, First Baptist Church, Clarksville Area YMCA, Grace Community Church and the Austin Peay State University Cheer Team.

The Festival wants to once again thank all of its volunteers and looks forward to seeing them all back April 24th-26th, 2014 for the 12th Annual Rivers & Spires Festival.
