Clarksville Police Officers arrest Four Shoplifters

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, June 4th, 2013, Clarksville Police Officers responded to a shoplifting call at Governor’s Square Mall and the suspects were subsequently located eastbound on I-24.

Inside the vehicle was over $3300.00 of stolen merchandise from different merchants. A majority of the items still retained the anti-theft devices used to deter theft.

Adrieanna Johnson, Tawonda Parrish, Rico Brown and Shelby Cange arrested by Clarksville Police for shoplifting.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan names Mike Baker Building and Codes Director

 

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has appointed Mike Baker as the Director of the Building and Codes Department for the City of Clarksville. Mr. Baker has been serving as the Department’s Interim Director.

“Mike has done an outstanding job as the Interim Director and I know he will continue to bring new ideas and energy to the Department,” Mayor McMillan said. “We conducted a very broad search and interviewed highly qualified professionals. Austin Peay State University names Derek van der Mewre 12th APSU Athletics Director

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In a June 5th press conference in the front lobby of the Dunn Center, the former deputy athletics director and chief operating officer at Central Michigan University Derek van der Mewre was officially named Austin Peay State University’s 12th athletics director.

van der Merwe (pronounced van de meer) was chosen out of the five finalists that were invited for on-campus interviews conducted in late May.

Montgomery County Health Department receives Green Certification

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Health Department became a Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified organization last week.

The Health Department is looking out for the health of our community as well as the health of our community’s environment. On Tuesday, May 28th the Health Department celebrated their CMC Green Certification with a green ribbon cutting ceremony.

APSU Baseball’s Tyler Rogers Finalist for National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Award

 

Austin Peay State University Governors SportsClarksville, TN – Five of college baseball’s top relief specialists have been selected as finalists for the ninth annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, the NCBWA announced Wednesday.

This year’s finalists include NCAA saves leader Tyler Rogers of Austin Peay along with David Berg of UCLA, Jonathan Holder of Mississippi State, Michael Lorenzen of Cal State Fullerton, and Jimmie Sherfy of Oregon.

Planters Bank First Thursday Art Exhibit to feature pairing of Bird Photography and Mixed Media Art

 

Planters BankClarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature bird photography by David Magers and a mixed media exhibit titled, “Four Seasons” by Gabriele Wardeiner from Thursday, June 6th – Wednesday, July 3rd.

David Magers is a local photographic artist, specializing in bird images.  After retiring from Caterpillar, Inc., David relocated to Clarksville from Peoria, IL, where he has more fully developed a life-long passion for photography.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department reports Edmondson Ferry Road Water Outage and Road Closure

 

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013

Clarksville Gas and Water DepartmentClarksville, TN – A Clarksville Gas and Water construction crew has turned off water service on Edmondson Ferry Road from Greenwood Avenue to U.S. Highway 41-A Bypass to repair a fire hydrant located near the Williams Lane intersection.

Edmondson Ferry Road is also closed to traffic from Church Drive to Monroe Street. The work is anticipated to be complete by approximately 4:00pm.

Clarksville City Council - Ward 10Clarksville, TN – I want to thank all the folks that were able to join Kaye Jones and myself in a joint Ward 10 and Ward 11 community meeting this past Monday, June 3rd. A surprise attendee was Councilman Marc Harris, Ward 6, and we were glad to have him visit.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Woodale Drive Water Outage

 

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013

Clarksville Gas and Water DepartmentClarksville, TN – A Clarksville Gas and Water construction crew has turned off water service on Woodale Drive and  Donna Drive from Woodale to the dead end to repair a water main line leak.

The repair is anticipated to be completed by 1:00 p.m. The streets are open to traffic.

Clarksville Police Department Teen Citizen Police Academy slots still available for June Class

 

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department is still taking application for the Teen Citizen Police Academy. There are some slots available but they are going fast.

It will be held July 22nd thru July 26th from 9:00am thru 3:00pm each day. Candidates must be in the 7th grade thru Senior in High School.
