Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan names Mike Baker Building and Codes Director

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has appointed Mike Baker as the Director of the Building and Codes Department for the City of Clarksville. Mr. Baker has been serving as the Department’s Interim Director.

“Mike has done an outstanding job as the Interim Director and I know he will continue to bring new ideas and energy to the Department,” Mayor McMillan said. “We conducted a very broad search and interviewed highly qualified professionals. Mike’s dedication to improving customer service and his commitment to the Clarksville community made him the obvious choice.”

“I have truly enjoyed leading the Building and Codes team as Interim Director,” said Mr. Baker, “and I am very excited to have the opportunity to continue to do so. Providing safe homes and businesses for our citizens is my priority. Mayor McMillan and I have also talked extensively about what we can do to improve our services and help make Clarksville a more business friendly city. I’m looking forward to exploring new ways to help everyone, both the residents and Clarksville’s building industry.”

Mr. Baker has received and maintains certifications for Plumbing Inspector, Building Plans Examiner, Building Official, Building Inspector, Building Code Official, and Commercial Mechanical Inspector. He has worked in various facets of the building industry for more than thirty-five years.

Mr. Baker will transition from Interim to Director immediately and will begin the search for a Deputy Director.
