Nashville Sounds slip 6-4 to Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA - The Nashville Sounds twice pulled to within one run of the Iowa Cubs Thursday night at Principal Park, but never got over the hump, losing by the final score of 6-4.

Sounds pitcher Frankie De La Cruz (1-7), in his first start since May 24th, allowed a quick 3-0 lead to the Cubs in the first inning. With runners on first and second, infielder Junior Lake pushed a single past a diving Blake Davis to score Iowa’s first run. Shortstop Donnie Murphy, 3-for-3, followed with a double down the right-field line to plate two more runs.

Tennessee Department of Transportation Maintenance Work for Montgomery County area starting June 21st, 2013

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – In Montgomery County, the Tennessee Department of Transporation (TDOT) will be doing resurfacing and bridge deck repair on I-24 from SR 76 to the Robertson County Line.

On Friday, June 21st through Wednesday June 26th, 8:00pm-6:00am, there will be alternating one lane closures on I-24 eastbound and westbound in order to pave the roadway. Also, traffic will be shifted on the ramp at exit 11.0 for concrete repairs. «Read the rest of this article»

APSU Men’s Golf’s Korey Smith qualifies for USGA Public Links Championship

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUNashville, TN – Rising sophomore Korey Smith, of the Austin Peay State University men’s golf team, has qualified for the USGA Public Links Championship.

Smith shot a 36-hole 140 total (70-70), at the Harpeth Hills Golf Course, shooting four under-par to place second out of 40 competitors in the June 18th event.

Restored historic OH-23 Raven helicopter dedicated to Fort Campbell Warrior Transition Battalion

 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The Fort Campbell Warrior Transition Battalion is now the proud home of a Korean War era OH-23 Raven medical evacuation helicopter. WTB leadership, along with the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital commander and 101st Airborne Division leaders, dedicated the aircraft display at a ceremony in its new home at the WTB Complex today.

During the ceremony, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell Senior Mission Commander Brig. Gen. Mark R. Stammer recognized all of the men and women within the WTB, honoring them for their dedication to healing, overcoming personal obstacles and transitioning either back to their units or into the civilian world as honored veterans.

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUOmaha, NE – Postseason accolades continue to flow in as Austin Peay State University closer Tyler Rogers was named a Rawlings Second-Team All-America pick by the American Baseball Coaches Association, Thursday.

In addition, infielders Jordan Hankins and Craig Massoni received Second-Team All-South Region honors.
