APSU Faculty, Staff share plaudits

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced a number of publications, conferences and credentials as part of their professional and scholarly activities.

Michael Hamlet, director of human resources, has been appointed by the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) board of directors to the 2013 Board of Examiners. As an examiner, he will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating organizations that apply for the TNCPE Award.

Beth Liggett, University photographer, was one of four photographers who serve at universities across the country to be chosen for a critique panel at the 2013 University Photographers’ Association of America Technical Symposium held from June 17th-21st at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL.

Dr. Melony Shemberger, assistant director of communication, had a paper accepted for presentation at the 19th annual Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities Conference to be held October 27th-29th at the University of Louisville. Her paper is titled “Food Insecurity: How Communities Help to Fight Student Hunger on College Campuses and K-12 Schools,” with the possibility of publication in the Metropolitan Universities Journal.

She also had a short article, titled “Focus on Key Messages Across the Board,” featured in the May issue of the Nonprofit Communications Report.

Dr. Becky J. Starnes, associate professor in the APSU Department of Public Management and Criminal Justice, had an article, titled, “The Pearl of Clarksville,” published in the Public Recognition Supplement of the May issue of the PA Times, which is published by the American Society of Public Administration.
